offlineMemberMy boyfriend and I had been dating for 4 years and about 3 months. We have lived together for the last 2 years. Things had not been perfect for awhile, but I loved him and still wanted to be with him. This past Sunday I brought up the fact that I felt there were things we could work on and that I really wanted to work to improve our relationship, and it basically came to him saying he has been unhappy for a long time and needs to end things. I did not handle things well in those first 24 hours with a lot of crying, pleading and arguing. The next morning he left for work and went to his parents and I still tried to keep in touch with him, which I now regret. However I found this site and found all the information on it really helpful and encouraging, and sent my No Contact message yesterday (which I pasted in my No Contact diary). Yesterday was still hard as I'm now staying in our apartment with all our shared stuff by myself and I am not really sure what we are going to do about the living situation, but I came into work today and put myself together and straightened my hair, blah, blah, and have been reaching out to my friends who have been wonderful. This site along with their help is really making me feel like I can handle this calmly and take care of myself along the way, even though I know there will be periods where I will feel very sad.

Welcome this place is very helpful if used correctly...it sounds like you are off to a very good start...Follow the plan and you will start to heal. What i would suggest is try to spend as much time out of your apartment that you can...stay busy and try to focus on you as much as you can...You will make it and you will have your life back very soon...stay strong...

offlineMemberThank you. I am feeling a lot of regret about contacting him so much and continuing to sound upset and pathetic but I think I should just let it be. He had responded to an earlier email AFTER I sent the no-contact message, and I then responded to that which is so stupid of me. But I think it is probably best to not re-send the NC and just let things be...

Posted 5 months ago once u broke NC by responded to his email/text whatsoever, you need to resend the NC and stick to the plan if you really wish to get your life back...

offlineMemberThank you for your responses. I re-sent the no contact message. I've also deleted all of the old emails and texts I had ever saved from him, and have made plans to get out of the apartment every night this week after work and have boxed up a lot of his things that have just been sitting out and bothering me. Once I went to work this morning I felt much stronger already - it's clear the hardest parts are the beginning and the end of the day when I am home here alone but even though I still feel terrible I actually am surprised that I don't feel nearly as bad as I expected today. Thanks for your advice. I see how important it is to stick to things stringently, but I think I do have the discipline to do that.
