   My ex and I met when we were both working for a volunteer organization. We both took time getting to know each other before making a committment. Part of this was LD as well. We were together for 2 years. This was the first time either of us felt what we were feeling. We went on weekend trips, family holiday gatherings and family vacations together. So many times we talked about our future. 3 weeks before we broke up my ex told me that we would be engaged in the next year. I was so thrilled. I knew I wanted to marry this guy. Two weeks before our break, we went on an anniversary trip. He told me he had never been that happy in his life. The weekend before our break, some of his family was in town and it was amazing. The night before we broke up, my ex invited me to drinks with friends. It felt weird to me for some reason but I had just started a new job and had a stressful day of work so I ignored the feelings. The next evening my ex came to my place for dinner and set everything out to eat. When I asked him how his day was he broke down and said "we needed a break". I was devastated. I freaked out and told him to leave. Then I proceeded to text him and call him and told him I wanted all of my stuff back and wanted him to get his. We waited a few days. When we met I demanded he tell me why we broke up. "It's just a feeling" he said. That was it. From there he told me he wanted to be friends and that we could make it work. I agreed and for the last 3 months...we have been "friends". We have hung out a few times, he even invited me to a party at his house. However, I get the feeling he is just being nice. I try to play it cool everytime we are togeher but I don't think I have given him a chance to miss me, etc. I am worried he will see through this. He joked wiht a mutual friend who went thru a similar thing with her guy "what - are you going to ignore him and not talk to him so he will miss you?" I am afraid he won't actually see this as serious. In reality, I really think he is "the one" and he got cold feet. I am still pretty sad and unsure how to actually go about the NC deal.
